Newcastle United outcast, Sean Longstaff is being linked with a move to Championship’s Nottingham Forrest. Nottingham is looking to bolster their options in the middle of the park as they look to break into the knock-off spots.

Longstaff has struggled for minutes this season since the appointment of Newcastle’s new boss Eddie Howe. Although the Englishman has 11 appearances this season, only 1 of them came under Eddie Howe as a substitute.

Sean Longstaff broke into tears while having a conversation with his brother earlier this season. He admitted to hitting rock bottom and that it was difficult to cope with the fame of being a Newcastle player.

Longstaff was hailed as an up-and-coming midfielder in the English league but the 24-year-old has now become disposable for the Magpies.

Newcastle is in the relegation scrap after 18 games in the Premier League. To survive relegation, they will certainly look to add some big-name players to the squad in the winter. This will make it ever so difficult for Longstaff to get game-time.

As claimed by The Sun, Nottingham is looking to swoop in the English midfielder for a discount price in January. Steve Cooper is keen on adding some new names to the roster.

The Forest boss believes they have a good shot at the promotion spot and has the results to back him up. The City Ground outfit is unbeaten in nine games and has won their last three games on the spin.

Chris Wilder has done extremely well since his arrival and that warrants a backing by the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Longstaff’s future remains uncertain amidst interest from Nottingham Forest

Sean Longstaff has only over six months remaining on his contract. Which makes him desirable for a number of clubs. Newcastle will look at offers for the English midfielder this winter window.

Newcastle risks losing Longstaff for free next summer if they fail to sell the player this January.

Longstaff’s contract situation means he could be available for a discount price to potential buyers. This will certainly boost Nottingham’s hopes of signing him.

Longstaff was also linked with Everton in September. Everton is also interested in bringing the midfielder to Goodison Park in January. Nottingham will have to face some competition from Everton to win Longstaff’s signature.

The Championship side may look at a loan deal in January with an obligation to buy later on.

It is certainly logical for Sean Longstaff to move on from Newcastle to start a new journey. It remains to be seen whether he leaves Newcastle United this January.
