The regular middle-order batsman for the Indian team is Shreyas Iyer. Unfortunately, he is injured in his lower back. The medical team has suggested surgery. Surya Kumar Yadav replaced him in the playing 11. He failed to make any runs in both matches. He got out for a golden duck by Mitchell Starc in both the ODIs. Wasim Jaffer wants Sanju Samson to play in the series last and final ODI match.

Wasim Jaffer on Sanju Samson

“We might sympathize with Suryakumar Yadav as the first ball that he faced was of 145 clicks. No doubt that it’s challenging when a left-arm seamer tries to bring the ball back in. Again, he should have anticipated that when Mitchell Starc bowls, he will attack the stumps and might swing the ball,”

He further added that the management might stick with Surya Kumar Yadav as they don’t have much options to try out at the end of the home season.

“We have to see if the management sticks with him in the third ODI; otherwise, it’s not a bad option to give Sanju Samson a chance because he has played well when given the opportunity and he is a good player,”

Sanju Samson has very good numbers for the Indian team in the ODI format. He has played a total of 11 ODIs for the team. He averages 66 with total runs off 330. Samson is likely to be part of the World cup squad as the return of Pant is highly unlikely.
