Furthermore Ivan Toney joked that Brentford are currently eyeing the Premier League title after Monday’s won. Brentford won the derby 3-2 against Fulham. The League’s top teams may now have to keep an eye out for the Bees. The Bees have now extended their unbeaten run, hence keeping their dream for European football alive. Ivan Toney scored his 15 goal so far this season in the match against Fulham. This was followed by two other goals which led them to win against Fulham. The Bees’ support in the stadium was unbelievable. That could be another reason why the team managed a pleasant comeback and win.
Ivan Toney jokes about winning the League title ahead of Arsenal this season
After the full-time whistle, Ivan Toney spoke about the immense support by the Brentford fans. He even joked that they should not be ruled out of the title race yet. Ivan Toney told Sky Sports, “This place is always rocking whether it is a derby or not. The fans were behind us for that win, and it was for them. We could have been ahead by two or three maybe, but fair play to them, they stuck in and held out. It was a bit unfortunate we hit the post twice, and then they got a free-kick that hit the post, and then they stick it in.”
Ivan Toney further added, “I think the games go like that, you can have spells for 10 minutes, and then they have a spell. That is how the game is, but whether you concede or score, you have to keep going. We are going to take it game by game, and hopefully, if a few teams slip up, we can win the league.”
Jamie Carragher even joked about it stating, “I’ve got the floor manager Frankie pointing at me saying Brentford are coming for Liverpool!”
True to his words, if Brentford manages to win their next fixture, they will indeed come just 1 point behind Liverpool. Therefore as long as Ivan Toney continues to score, their dream shall continue to gain momentum.
