James Maddison have been linked with Arsenal for quite some time now. However Tottenham might also try and sign the player. Furthermore the Leicester City player would not not be guaranteed a place in the starting lineups at Arsenal. Therefore if this is indeed Maddison’s final season at King Power Stadium, then the fight for his sign is expected to be a fierce one. James Maddison is definitely one of the finest talents out of the traditional Premier League‘s ‘top six’. The player have nine goals and five assists registered to his name this season so far. This only just scratches the surface of his influence in the game. According to news reports, Leicester City wants £60 million for the player. Hence such fee is very unlikely to put off Newcastle, who considers the player to be their top target.
Arsenal could face competition in signing James Maddison
While Tottenham could also throw their name in the hat for signing James Maddison. As many Spurs players are currently struggling in the play- making area. Weather the Gunners make a move this summer is yet to be seen however. Furthermore the Gunners are said to be prioritizing signing a attacking midfielder this summer. However the player has been linked with the club since quite some time now. However according to Darren Bent, if James Maddison ends up signing for Arsenal, would struggle to find a place in the starting XI. Bent commented, “Spurs would love him. He can come to Arsenal. Come and sit on the bench at Arsenal! (Would he get into Arteta’s XI) Not right now.” He further added, “I don’t know if he fits in at Manchester City. But certainly Spurs, Newcastle, and Chelsea.”
Leicester’s decline under Brendon Rodgers might further convince James Maddison to leave the club and look elsewhere to join. The player is immensely talented and is believed should be playing in the Champions League. But that seems very unlikely if he decides to continue with Leicester City.
