News Agency PTI reported that as per BCCI sources. Jasprit Bumrah won’t be playing in the T-20 World Cup, owing to injury. He has been suffering from a back stress fracture, as BCCI reported. Bumrah couldn’t take the field on Wednesday as he “complained of back pain during India’s practice session.”

Bumrah has always been one of the most impactful player in the squad so far. His absence will definitely be a severe blow to the squad ahead of the T20 World Cup. Already the team was suffering from another blow- the absence of Ravindra Jadeja.

Jasprit Bumrah earlier had to miss the 2022 Asia Cup, as he was suffering from a back injury. He however came back to the Indian squad earlier this month in the T20I series against Australia. There, he featured in the second and third matches of the series.

Bumrah was one of those four pacers who got their name in the T-20 World Cup. The other three those who will be traveling to Australia are- which featured Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshal Patel. However, Bumrah’s absence may open doors for either Mohammed Siraj or Deepak Chahar. Both of them are already there in the team, but as standbys.

After Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah leaves the camp

The Rohit Sharma-led Team India earlier had gone thorough all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s knee injury. This however will make him skip the T20 World Cup. However, BCCI named Axar Patel in Jadeja’s spot. Axar, however, has been proving himself worthy enough to earn that place. His consistent performances for India in the recent T20I series against Australia and South Africa may relax India a bit.

But this time, India will be dealing with a huge blow. Bumrah missing the World Cup will genuinely be a great concern in the camp.

After the Indian Premier League, Bumrah has played hardly three T20Is out of the 24 matches India played. He just played 6 internationals overall, after the IPL. The count also includes a Test and two ODIs. However, all the matches were against England.

Bumrah, till now has represented the blue in 60 T-20Is and bagged 70 wickets. He is still the second-highest wicket-taker as a fast bowler in India.
