Newcastle United have reportedly added Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard to their transfer wishlist.

The Premier League announced the takeover of the Saudi-backed consortium this week, who purchased Newcastle from Mike Ashley for £300million. After 14 years under the ownership of Mike Ashley. It’s rumoured that the club are ready to spend £190million in the January transfer window, with a raft of players already linked with a move to St James’ Park.

The England international reignited his career on loan at West Ham United last term. But the Hammers failed in their bid to sign him permanently this summer.  He scored nine and assisted a further five in this loan spell. The 28-year-old rejected Newcastle in favour of a loan move to West Ham back in January. But a switch to St James’ Park is understood to be a far more attractive proposition. Now that their takeover has gone through.

Earlier this week Jesse Lingard, who has made just three appearances as a substitute in the Premier League this season, suggested that he may need to leave United in order to secure a place in England’s World Cup squad next year. ‘Obviously, the World Cup is a long way away but you need regular football. I was so close to going to the Euros and I think it plays a huge part and it’s a big factor,’ said Lingard.

Apart from Jesse Lingard who are Newcastle target in the upcoming transfer window

Anthony Martial is reportedly on their shortlist. Donny van de Beek is keen on a January exit with Newcastle linked with a move for the Dutchman, along with Barcelona. And they will also look to improve their defence with Eric Bailly. Who has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid this summer? Also, Burnley’s England international James Tarkowski is on the list.

Lingard is currently due to become a free agent in the summer of 2022. The Red Devils are at risk of losing him for free if a January fee cannot be agreed with Newcastle. The attacker has managed an impressive two goals in that limited time. Taking his total to the club to 35 from 216 appearances.
