Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus could make his return against Newcastle United this weekend as manager Mikel Arteta shares update on team news.

Arteta hinted in the fact that Jesus might return against the Magpies on Saturday. Gunners have lost Jurrien Timber since August and they recently lost Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey to injury.

Partey got injured in training before Champions League clash against Sevilla last weekend. Meanwhile, Jesus suffered a hamstring injury during the same match.

Speaking ahead of Newcastle clash, Arteta hinted that the duo might return to the Matchday squad in Saturday. The Spaniard said :-

“We have another training session so there is a possibility.

“But I don’t know.

“I cannot guarantee that (Jesus will return after the international break).

“We are trying to get that recovery as quick as possible. I said that it will be weeks. But it’s very difficult to put a timeframe right now.

Arteta confirms Smith Rowe will miss Saturday’s clash against Newcastle

Mikel Arteta confirms midfielder Emile Smith Rowe will miss Saturday’s clash against Newcastle United due to a knee injury.

Speaking on Smith Rowe’s injury, Arteta said :-

“Nothing has changed.

“I think he will be out for weeks. How many will be determined by how he will progress in the first few weeks especially. It’s a big blow because he was getting some momentum and some minutes and we were starting to get the Emile that we needed. Unfortunately, though he’s going to be out again.”

However, Martin Odegaard return against Newcastle as the Norwegian was suffering from hip problem. Arteta further said :-

“We have tried to offload him because he had a little issue that he was grumbling with.

“He felt much better in the last few days. We gave him a few minutes against West Ham which was good to see. His contribution was really good. He will train today and if he’s fine he will be ready.”
