Joao Felix joins Chelsea on a loan deal

Felix

The highly-rated Portuguese sensation has joined The Blues on a loan deal. In what has been quite an uneven season for the West London side, the Chelsea faithful will be looking up to Joao Felix to reignite their charge for a second Champion’s League title in three years. After a long linkup to Arsenal, the transfer saga ends with Joao signing a loan deal with Chelsea.

Can Joao Felix bring Chelsea back on track?

The West London side has suffered due to their lack of consistency in the ongoing Premier League season being 19 points off league-leaders Arsenal. Having suffered a heavy defeat to Man City in the third round of the FA cup, the Champions League seems to be the only plausible pursuit for The Blues. The new loanee from Atletico Madrid could be a crucial addition to the Chelsea attacking third with his creativity and guile on the ball. Joao Felix will reportedly be allowed to register for Chelsea in the ongoing Champions League season as per the new rules of UEFA.

According to UEFA,

“Chelsea are allowed to register a maximum of three players during the January transfer window”

The Chelsea curse.

Over the last few years or so, we have seen several ‘Big names’ being loaned out to Chelsea. However, most of them failed to live up to their expectations. The list includes the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Saul Niguez, Radamel Falcao, and many more. Will Joao Felix be able to fit in, is a question that looms large over Stamford Bridge. The Portuguese put up a satisfactory show at the World Cup for his country. However, ever since joining Atletico Madrid, the attacker is yet to fulfill his entire potential. Graham Potter would hope that he find his feet here, which could prove pivotal for his plans.
