Joao Palhinha has officially signed for newly-promoted Fulham. The Portuguese midfielder has signed a deal which runs till 2027. An option to extend the contract by a year is also present in the contract.

Palhinha joins from Sporting Lisbon, where he played as a defensive midfielder. He was earlier linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Red Devils have shifted their interest to Frenkie De Jong

Fulham grabbed at the opportunity, and made it pay. They reportedly faced competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers as well. But it was the West London team that ultimately won the race for the Palhinha .

Joao Palhinha On Signing

The Portuguese midfielder could not hide his joy after he joined Fulham. Speaking to their official website, he said that he was looking forward to playing in the English Premier League.

I’m very glad to be here. It’s a big opportunity for me, for my career, to play in what is – in my opinion – the best league in the world.  I’ve signed with a great Club. The Club wanted me, and I chose the Club, so I promise the fans that I will do my best, and I hope we can win so many things in this season.

Co-owner Tony Khan was equally thrilled. And it is easy to see why. Palhinha has been a top talent in recent years. He recently helped his boyhood club Sporting in winning their first league title in 19 years.

Joao Palhinha has excelled in Portugal playing both club and international football. He’s been one of our top targets in this window. While there were other prominent clubs aiming to secure his signature, we’re thrilled that Joao chose to come here and that he wants to play for Fulham under our great coach Marco Silva, and we believe that Joao will be a valuable addition to strengthen the squad to compete this season in the Premier League

Fulham have endured a rough few years recently. They have been up and down the Championship and Premier League. Their fans will hope that a player like Palhinha establishes them in the top flight.
