Reading midfielder John Swift has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in this transfer window. Leeds United and Newcastle United have shown interest in the 26-year-old midfielder.

Injury-hit Leeds United could do with a midfield signing this month to cope with their run-ins. Bielsa had to deploy players out of position on multi occasions. But the club under Bielsa are known for not bringing in players mid-season.

LeedsLive recently claimed that Leeds will not make an attempt to sign the Reading midfielder. It further states that he is also unlikely to move anywhere else this month.

John Swift has enjoyed a terrific run of form this season. He will be linked with a move away from the Madejski Stadium for the remainder of the month, thanks to his impressive numbers this term.

Swift has scored 8 goals and set up 9 from the heart of the Reading midfield. The Reading man is very dangerous in the opponent box. He has a knack for creating chances and often finds himself in good scoring areas in the penalty box.

The Chelsea youth team product had successful loan rounds at Rotherham, Swindon Town and Brentford before making a permanent move to Reading in 2016. He burst onto the scene for Reading by scoring a winner on his debut against Preston North End.

Should Leeds United make a move for Reading star John Swift this month?

The 26-year-old English midfielder only has one year left on his Reading contract and will be a free agent in a matter of 6 months. He also lacks the experience of top-flight Football. And the player does not expect to be sold by his current employers this month.

Taking all these factors into consideration, Leeds should still make a move for the talented midfielder. He would be available for a cut-price for the Whites as he only has 6 months remaining on his contract. If Leeds come up with a lucrative offer, Reading might just cash in on their star player who they will lose for free next summer.

Swift will provide a lot of attacking threat in the Leeds midfield and chip in with goals and assists which will provide Leeds with the necessary boost they need this season.

Leeds manager himself has lauded the Reading midfielder with praise in the past. Bielsa has admired the midfielders transitional playing abilities which is something that Bielsa looks for in a player.

The move will also be quite beneficial for the former Chelsea man. This is been by far his best season yet. He should capitalize on it with an upgrade to the Premier League. He might miss out on an opportunity to play top-flight football should he decide to run down his contract.
