Chelsea have offered a new contract to Jorginho. Jorginho was believed to leave Chelsea after his contract ends at the end of the season. But now the Italian’s agent Joao Santos have confirmed of them receiving an offer from the club. His current contract with Chelsea ends at the end of this season. The player could leave as a free agent, it is obvious that the Blues would be hoping to renew his contract. The midfielder also have the opportunity to talk with other clubs in January. As he enters in his last six months of the contract, he could even sign pre-agreements with them. However, Chelsea looks to have avoided that as they have already offered a new deal to Jorginho. Napoli have also shown interest in the player.
Jorginho have received a new offer from Chelsea
Napoli was the club that helped the midfielder to gain prominence in the game. Jorginho had stood out after his performance at Napoli, which gained Chelsea’s interest in him. He signed with Chelsea back in 2018 after his ex-manager Maurizio Sarri urged Chelsea to sign him. The Italian’s agent have confirmed that they have now received an offer from the Blues. He commented,
“We’ve received a proposal from Chelsea to sign a new contract so it’s our priority to discuss with Chelsea. Napoli interest? We’d be happy for their interest, it’s a special club for Jorginho but there’s nothing as of now.”
But it seems like they are not satisfied with the offer they have received. They would be hoping for some improvements for him to sign a long-term deal with the Blues. Chelsea are undergoing some significant changes.
They are now building a new and young team under Graham Potter. That was the main reason why there was a general understanding that Chelsea will not offer a new contract to them. Both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are out of their contract at the end of the season and can walk out as a free agent. Barcelona are reportedly interested in the Italian after he was dubbed as the ‘world-class midfielder’. It will be interesting to see how things unfold for Chelsea in a few months.
