Arsenal are in positive talks with Ajax defender Jurrien Timber and he is eagerly waiting to join them, claims SkySports journalist Dharmesh Seth.

Gunners have already sealed the signing of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz in £65 million deal. However, Arsenal are still battling it out for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice with rivals Manchester City this summer.

Timber is very close to joining Arsenal as the club has submitted the official proposal to sign him this summer. He is a versatile full-back similar to Ukrainian International Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The 22-year-old defender has been a key player for Ajax FC, as he appeared in all 34 league games last season. He is also attracting lots of interest big European clubs this summer.

Speaking on the SkySports, Journalist Dharmesh Seth claims that Timber is setting his sights on a move to the Emirates. He said :-

“There is another player that they’re interested in as well, and that is the Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.

“We are told that talks are ongoing between both clubs, we’re told talks are positive as well, personal terms not expected to be a problem.

“And in this case, rather like Declan Rice as well, the understanding is that Timber wants to make that move to Arsenal.

“He’s got two years left on his contract, I think, so it’s the optimum time for Ajax to maximise that transfer fee.”

Manager Mikel Arteta is hoping to sign him, as he could be excellent addition to the team. Timber looks to double his wages, if he completes his move to the Emirates.

But Ajax are holding out for £50 million to sanction the departure of the defender. Both the clubs are now negotiating the deal as the personal terms have already been agreed.
