According to several reports, Juventus and Bayern Munich have joined the race for signing Chelsea’s star defender Antonio Rudiger. The German’s current contract with the blues is set to end next summer and no talks about a new one have been held. Following which some top European clubs are keeping tabs on Antonio Rudiger in which Juventus and Bayern Munich have also made their name.
The center-back is with Chelsea since 2017 after showing promising performances with Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart, and AS Roma. Rudiger playing for Chelsea has made 156 appearances and besides defending has scored 8 goals in all competitions. While he was one of the important players who played a key role in Chelsea lifting the Champions League title last season.
And starting off the 2021/22 season, he has played every minute for Chelsea as Thomas Tuchel trusts him. But his time at Chelsea may be nearing an end as his contract is set to end next summer. And till now no news of contract extension have been heard from the Chelsea camp.
Following this situation some top European clubs like, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on him. And as per latest reports, Juventus and Bayern Munich are the latest to join the race for Antonio Rudiger. If the German fails to sign a new contract until December, then he can contact any clubs from January. While if he agrees on same terms with any club then he can sign a pre-contract securing his move.
However, talking about Antonio Rudiger’s situation Thomas Tuchel has said he will be talking with the Chelsea board. As he considers the center-back a part of Chelsea’s future who can hold the backline for coming years.
Why Juventus and Bayern Munich need Antonio Rudiger?
Juventus have two aged center-back in their team named Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci. Following which the Italian needs a fresh and young addition to the backline last season. And Antonio Rudiger has emerged as a perfect option due to his exceptional talent in the back. While his contract ending next summer means Juventus can sign Rudiger for free next season which is also a cheap option.
Bayern Munich have one of the best teams in current times, but the German giants have to worry about center-back Niklas Sule. The German has his contract ending next summer and his contract extension talks have been halted for some reason. While he is also heavily linked with Chelsea for a move next summer. Following this situation, Bayern Munich have identified Antonio Rudiger as a perfect option to replace Sule at the back next season.
