Reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has joined Scottish outfit Rangers on loan on the deadline day of the January transfer window. Reports also suggest that the deal also includes an option to make the deal permanent in the summer. Reports suggest that Juventus will cover a major chunk of the midfielder’s salary during his time in Scotland.

The Welsh midfielder has plenty of experience in UK football. Aaron Ramsey made a total of 361 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal. In this time he recorded an impressive 65 goals and 65 assists for the Premier League giants. (stats via Transfermarkt) The Welsh midfielder left the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer to join Juventus in summer 2019.

But things have not quite worked out for both parties as they would have imagined. Juventus have been massively underperforming in the past two seasons. Last term they missed out on the Serie A title for the first time since the 2010-11 season. This term again the Old Lady are struggling in the league.

Ramsey has made just 70 appearances in all competitions for Juventus and recorded five goals and five assists in this time. The midfielder has made just five appearances in all competitions this term. (stats via Transfermarkt) He has failed to cement his place in the starting line.

Aaron Ramsey set to make his debut in The Old Firm derby?

Reports earlier today suggested that Wolves were close to signing the Welsh midfielder on loan. Crystal Palace were also interested in the midfielder but never made a move. But Rangers have signed the midfielder on loan.

Reports suggest that Aaron Ramsey is currently in Glasgow in order to complete the loan move to the Scottish outfit. Ramsey should be registered by Rangers before the midweek round of fixtures. This could mean that Ramsey could make his debut in the Old Firm derby against Celtic in midweek.

There is no doubt about the midfielder’s ability and talent on the pitch. If the Rangers manage to keep him fit, he can really make a difference for the side. Rangers have also signed highly-rated Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo on loan in the January transfer window. The Rangers will be hoping that the two loan signings can help them secure back-to-back league triumphs.
