Juventus reject Chelsea bid to sign Matthijs De Ligt?

Juventus have reportedy rejected a bid from Chelsea for Matthijs De Ligt. The Italian side would still like to extend the center-back’s contract.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his Juventus contract. But, he has been linked with a move away from Turin. The defender has reportedly expressed a desire to play in the Premier League next season.

Chelsea are leading the race for De Ligt . They will look to strengthen their backline following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Thomas Tuchel rates the Dutchman as a priority signing before the window ends. The new owner Todd Boehly is personally taking care of the negotiations for the summer transfer window. He has made it clear Thomas Tuchel will get the required funds to sign players.

FIRST BID FOR THE DEFENDER HAS BEEN REPORTEDLY REJECTED

According to reports , Juventus turned down a player-plus-cash bid by the Premier League club for De Ligt. The Blues reportedly have submitted an offer in the region of £40m plus the option of either Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic . Although, Juventus staff were not keen on either of the two players offered. The Serie A club are also believed to be reluctant to sell De Ligt this summer.

But the defender has only two years left on his contract. He is not willing to extend his current contract with the Italian side. The Dutch defender reportedly is dreaming of moving to Premier League.

The Netherlands international has appeared for the club on 117 occasions . He has chipped in with 13 goals. Chelsea have to move fast to sign the defender if they want to sign him before more clubs start lining up with their offers. The signing of De Ligt will excite the fans who are keen to see the club thrive under new ownership.
