Kai Havertz should now take penalties for Chelsea

Pochettino

Kai Havertz is expected to take penalties for Chelsea after Jorginho’s departure from the club. It will be interesting to see who takes up the penalty duties in the team. Jorginho had enjoyed the penalty duties since he joined Chelsea. He pretty much had exclusive access to the penalty duties while playing for the Blues. The player only missed four of the spot kicks since joining them. Therefore he was much more successful in penalties than not as he scored 26 of them. But how does Chelsea have to make a decision regarding this? With Jorginho leaving for Arsenal, the Blues now have to rely on someone else to deliver penalties. Kai Havertz is expected to be the one to take penalties for Chelsea. Joao Felix made a loan move to Chelsea this month. The player has an impressive record for his national team and Atletico Madrid.

Kai Havertz could be an option for Chelsea now to take penalties

Out of the squad that was already present before the January transfer window, Kai Havertz is one player who stands out the most. He seems like the prime contender for the penalty duties. The player had taken up the spot only once in his Chelsea career. He had taken up the spot kick in the FIFA Club World Cup final and had scored for the Blues. However, he does have an 18/18 record throughout his career so far. He have performed well for his former clubs and this national team. Another option available to Chelsea is Raheem Sterling. However, he does not have the same consistency as Kai Havertz. The player have taken penalties for both England and Manchester City. But only has a 50% success rate so far in his career.

Therefore Chelsea’s best bet would be Kai Havertz. It would be best for the Blues to hand Havertz the penalty-taking responsibilities. He have already shown his worth in a high-pressure moment for the club. However, he would take some time to match Jorginho’s consistency. Therefore the manager would have to show some trust in Kai Havertz.
