French midfielder N’golo Kante is in ‘final stages’ of agreeing a new deal with Chelsea, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Kante’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and his future has been extremely uncertain. Despite being injured for most of the season, the Chelsea Star has a match rating of 7.20 this term, which higher than most of his teammates.

Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain were interested in the 31-year-old midfielder and at one stage it looked like Kante would have left the club. But now a positive news have surfaced, which supporters will be pleased to hear.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Chelsea are Kante are closing in on an agreement over a new contract. He wrote :-

“N’Golo Kanté was back on the pitch for friendly game earlier this week… and the negotiations over new contract are still ongoing and progressing well to final stages. Discussions on last details as new deal could be valid for next two years plus one season club option.”

Earlier this week, Kante made his comeback for friendly game against Charlton. Both the parties are discussing over the final details as new deal could be valid for next two years plus on plus one season club option.

Kante is Chelsea’s second-longest serving player after Cesar Azpilicueta and the club hierarchy are absolutely correct to extend his current contract.

The Frenchman is termed as “magic” by ITV pundit Ally McCoist. It will also be a massive boost for Potter in future.
