Dinesh Karthik, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter from India, has announced his return to the commentary box for the upcoming 2023 Ashes series. The series, which consists of five matches, is set to take place in June and July. The matches will be played at various venues such as Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford, and The Oval. Australia are the current holders of the Ashes title, having won the 4-0 series in 2021-22. Karthik, who is also a keeper-batter for the RCB, has been appointed as a member of the Sky Sports commentary panel for the Ashes 2023. He is among the prominent commentators, such as Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Kevin Pietersen, Eoin Morgan, Mel Jones, Kumar Sangakkara, Mark Taylor, Mark Butcher, Ricky Ponting, Ian Ward, Andrew Strauss, and others.

Karthik took to Twitter and shared his excitement to be part of the 2023 Ashes panel. “One MASSIVE announcement before the IPL as a player starts… So proud to be amongst these legends. Surreal feeling. Just felt like sharing!  Bas. That’s all Thanks @SkyCricket for giving me this opportunity and honour. #Ashes2023,” he tweeted.

In preparation for the 2023 Ashes, Karthik is set to participate in the 16th edition of the IPL, which commences on March 31. The GT (defending champions), will host the CSK in the opening match of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Meanwhile, Karthik’s team, the RCB, will kick off their IPL campaign against five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 2.

Karthik will be hoping for a good season once again

In the 2022 IPL season, RCB had an excellent performance, finishing in fourth place with eight victories out of 14 matches during the league stage. Karthik was purchased by RCB for INR 5.50 crores in 2022. He managed to score 330 runs in 16 matches with an average of 55.00 and a strike rate of 183.33.
