Arsenal youngster Kieran Tierney is said to be joining the squad for training by the end of this month. The left-back has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery back in April. This led him to lose ten Arsenal matches in the latter half of the season.

Poor display at the end of the season saw them losing out on the Champions League berth for next season. The North-London club lost five and won five without Tierney in their squad. The Scot also failed to make the Scottish side for the World Cup qualifiers match against Ukraine this month. They went on to lose the match 1-3.

The loss meant that they lose out on the World Cup this year in Qatar. Tierney has had significant problems with injuries after joining Arsenal from Celtic back in 2019. However, this time he is said to be making great progress from his latest injury.

The Sun reports that he could join the squad at the end of June and a date has already been marked for his comeback. Moreover, the report continues by saying that Mike Arteta hopes to find him in his team. Arsenal are slated to play a friendly on July 8 against German side FC Nurnberg. Tierney ended his season this year with a goal and three assists from 25 games. This takes his tally to 4 goals and 12 assists from 87 appearances.

Kieran Tierney has his history of injuries at Arsenal

His injury problems have seen him lose 48 matches for the Gunners. Firstly, he dislocated his shoulder in the December of 2019 against West Ham.

After that he missed two weeks with a groin injury in the September of 2020. Again, he missed another six matches after a knee injury ruled him out between January and February 2021.

Nuno Tavares took the place of Tierney in his absence. However, he has not been successful in filling his shoes. Therefore, Arsenal are reportedly thinking of loaning him out for this season.
