Kiwior gave an impressive performance against Chelsea

Arsenal defender Jacub Kiwior gave an impressive performance against Chelsea on his fulll Premier League debut.

Gunners defeated Chelsea 3:1 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. In the post-match press conference, Arteta praised the Polish centre-back :-

“Yes (I was pleased), especially Jakub, it was a big task for him he hasn’t played in the Premier League yet and to throw him in against top class players was a big ask.

“But we believe he is ready and his partnership with Gabi worked out really well. I think also Jorginho gave us a little bit of control in midfield and I’m really pleased with them.

“He’s been getting better and better every single day, not only in training but his interaction and his language.

“He’s more settled and he’s a player that I really like, that’s why I signed him.

“He has the potential at his age to be great and he had a big task against the players he had to face today, and I think he didn’t really well.”

Kiwior started the match against Chelsea in place of Rob Holding. He also went through his first 90 minutes in the Premier League with great applause from the supporters.

However, Kiwior struggled in his previous outing against Manchester City, as he was tasked with marking Erling Haaland. Arsenal’s performance has dropped off in recent weeks.

Moreover, Kiwior will now end the season on a high note, as his teammates were happy with his performance against Blues. Club captain Martin Odeegard also praised him for his conduct in training recently.

But if Kiwior start against Newcastle United on Sunday, he will have a tougher job his hands.
