Bayern Munich are looking to sign midfielders to their squad following the exit of Corentin Tolisso and Marc Roca. For the defense, they have signed of Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus. To compensate for the departure of players in the midfield., Bayern have signed Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax. In order to further reinforce their midfield, they want to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.
Bayern have already had a bid for Laimer rejected by Leipzig this summer. The club offered €22 million with 2 million in add-ons for the player. However, Leipzig rejected this offer immediately. The second offer worth €23 million including add-ons was also rejected by the club. Leipzig is holding on for a €30 million offer for Bayern for Laimer. But, Bayern is unwilling to hand out 30 million for Laimer. They consider this valuation to be very expensive.
Laimer has got one more year left on his contract
Laimer has only one more year left on his contract with RB Leipzig. Moreover, Laimer has agreed on personal terms with Bayern Munich. He could easily join them after the expiration of his contract the next year. But, Nagelsmann wants a pressing-oriented midfielder this summer to make up for the departure of Robert Lewandowski. Moreover, Goretzka has picked up an injury which means he is unavailable for the season. Bayern needs of a proper number six for the club this summer to cover for Goretzka.
Laimer is a perfect candidate for this role. He has put out consistent performances for Leipzig in the number six role. Roca filled in for Kimmich in the Bundesliga however, he failed to earn the managers trust. Laimer has worked with Naglesmann during his tenure at Leipzig. Moreover, Naglesmann rates Laimer very highly and his play style fits Bayern’s philosophy. Konrad Laimer will provide some much-needed depth to midfield which Bayern desperately need considering their packed schedule.
