India allrounder Krunal Pandya has picked up a groin injury and returned to India yesterday.

Krunal was batting for Warwickshire and scored 37 runs against Nottinghamshire after which he picked up the injury.

He didn’t come out to field in the second innings which made it clear that the injury was a rather serious one for him.

The doctors have consulted that Krunal’s injury will keep him out for three weeks.

As a result, Krunal also missed the next two games against Middlesex and Durham in the Royal London One Day Cup.

Warwickshire are fifth in the points table and just one point behind the top four teams.

Paul Farbrace, Warwickshire’s Director of Cricket was rather disappointed to see Krunal go but he gave his best wishes to the allrounder.

Krunal was signed up by Warwickshire this year to play in the Royal London One Day Cup. So far, Krunal has played five matches for the county.

He has made 134 runs and has an average of 33.50 which includes 74 from 82 balls in a tied game against Surrey.

Krunal has also picked up 9 wickets in the tournament at 25.00 and has three-fors against Sussex and Leicestershire.

Warwickshire has recently roped in Mohammed Siraj to play for the county in the remaining three matches of the County Championship Division 1 tournament.

Krunal is on the lookout to get back into the Indian squad. His last series was against Sri Lanka in 2021. He plays for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.

So far, Krunal has played 5 ODIs and 19 T20Is for India.
