Kylian Mbappe sends a message to Chelsea highlighting their mistake of not signing Hakimi

Kylian Mbappe‘s tweet can be looked at as a sly message to Chelsea as they missed out on signing Achraf Hakimi. The Moroccan has helped his country reach the AFCON quarter-finals against Egypt. Hakimi’s free-kick against Malawi took Mbappe to his social media to highlight that Hakimi is the best right-back in the world.

Chelsea were interested in signing Hakimi before his move to PSG but the Moroccan wanted to sign for Pochettino. The Blues not pushing for Hakimi seemed the right decision because of Reece James’ blistering start to the season. However, Chelsea have taken a step back due to long-term injuries to both Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

The Blues are now struggling to fill up their shoes in the wingback positions and lost a few points in that process. If Chelsea had signed Hakimi then would have been in a far better position than now. It is understandable that Mbappe wants to support his teammate at PSG on social media. However, the Chelsea hierarchy might be regretting seeing Hakimi succeed at this rate.

Hakimi has been very crucial to PSG than anybody would have thought after the signing. He has changed the results of a few games single-handedly for PSG. Hakimi has been very important for maintaining PSG’s lead of 11 points at the top of the Ligue 1 table. He will be facing Mohamed Salah and Egypt which will be a clash to watch for the football fanatics.

How Kylian Mbappe indirectly teased Chelsea with his praise for Achraf Hakimi?

Reece James has been sidelined for Chelsea for a long term and Chelsea have dropped a lot of points in that time. Chelsea tried playing Pulisic in the place of Reece James but that did not work well for the Blues. Saul and Hudson-Odoi also tried stepping up but they were no match for Reece James either.

Chelsea missed out on signing Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan and since then he has 6 goal contributions for PSG. These contributions came at crucial stages of the game. If it was not for Hakimi then PSG would have lost a few matches and the gap between PSG and Nice would have been closer.

Kylian Mbappe had some high praise for his PSG teammate after his brilliant free-kick against Malawi. That must have rubbed some salt in Chelsea’s wounds of how they missed out on such an important signing. The Blues must now be rooting for Reece James and Ben Chilwell to return as soon as possible and lift their club again.

Reece James might miss a few matches again before his return. Moreover, Tuchel will not risk starting him directly. Instead, he might hand him a few appearances before playing regularly week in-week out. James will now be motivated to give his 200% for the club as he will now want to make up for the lost time due to the injury. It will be a great competition between Hakimi and James to see who is the best right-back in the world.
