According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Liverpool are leading the race for signing Brighton & Hove Albion star, Yves Bissouma. The Reds have been keeping tabs on the midfielder just after the summer transfer window closed. And now seeing his current form Liverpool wants to cash in on Yves Bissouma as soon as possible.
Bissouma transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion back in 2018 as the Seagulls spotted his talent since his LOSC Lille days. However, he had a difficult start in the Premier League playing under then-manager Chris Hughton. The midfielder went to show his real talent after the Seagulls appointed Graham Potter as their new manager.
Since then, Bissouma didn’t have to look back as Potter considered him as the main man in the Brighton midfield. To date, Bissouma has appeared 101 times for the Seagulls scoring 4 times and assisting 2 goals. While currently Brighton sits 6th in the Premier League table and most of the credit goes to Bissouma.
But the midfielder’s time with Seagulls might be nearing an end as Liverpool looks keen on signing Bissouma. The 25-year-old still has two years left in his contract with Brighton which places them in a good negotiation position. Following which the Seagulls are reportedly wanting at least 40 million to sell their midfield star.
While Liverpool are also open to hand over the asking price for Bissouma’s signature. The reds might be going all-in for the midfielder in January or next summer. But they have to be careful as Manchester United are also in the race for Bissouma.
Liverpool to face competition from Manchester United for signing Yves Bissouma
Manchester United are also tipped off in the race for the Brighton star as they are in search of a midfield addition. The Red Devils were looking for a central midfielder this summer but couldn’t finalize any deal. Following which their next transfer priority is signing a midfielder.
Earlier it was reported that United are opting to sign Declan Rice in the next transfer window. But there might be a change in plans as West Ham United have reportedly asked 100 million for the youngster. Following this, Manchester United have listed Yves Bissouma as a new option for their central midfield role. However, the Brighton star might also not be a low price deal as the club might raise the value seeing his demand in the market.
