Michael Owen has had a tough time predicting football games. However, He made one proper prediction as he backed Liverpool over Manchester United. He also went on to add that Liverpool would be on the top of the table after the win.
Michael Owen’s prediction came true as Liverpool ended up demolishing Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield. One lesser than their previous meeting at Old Trafford. Liverpool are the first team to score 9 goals against United in the two fixtures.
With that win, Liverpool moved to top of the Premier League table. They are ahead of Manchester City by 2 points however City have a game in hand. While, Manchester United move a spot down with 54 points placed at 6th.
Michael Owen’s Prediction for Liverpool against United
Michael Owen is widely regarded as one of the worst pundits in Football. His predictions end up being the opposite more often than not. However, Owen redeemed himself this time with his predictions.
“What a game this should be. I thought some of Liverpool’s football, particularly in the first half, was superb. Thiago was the star man for me, he was so classy and barely gave the ball away. Luis Diaz was a threat throughout and was a problem for a top full-back, Cancelo, all day.
It was another Cristiano Ronaldo inspired win for Man United. The worry would be how difficult they made it for themselves. Norwich are bottom of the league but caused United problems. They can’t be relying on Ronaldo every week.
I’d fancy Liverpool against any side right now. There’s so much confidence in the side and Klopp has so many options at his disposal. I’m going for a 2-0 win.”
However Michael Owen’s prediction came true in the first half of the game itself as Liverpool scored two past De Gea courtesy of Salah and Diaz. They went on to score two more – Mane and Salah to end the game 4-0 at full time.
