Luis Enrique and his 3 conditions for becoming the next Chelsea manager

Luis Enrique is a leading candidate to take over as Chelsea manager following the sacking of Graham Potter. Even though after the sacking Potter, Chelsea have appointed Frank Lampard as caretaker manager. Enrique will surely be the number one choice for the Blues in the summer. The former Barcelona and Spain boss is known for his tactical acumen and ability to develop young players. And that makes him an attractive option for the Blues as they look to rebuild their squad and compete for major honours once again.

However, reports suggest that Enrique has informed Chelsea of his three conditions before he will consider taking the job. These conditions are :

  1. The Spaniard wants continuity and time to implement his ideas. Potter was not given time to implement his philosophy because of a lot of pressure from the fans. Enrique wants none of that and he has blatantly set the condition that he will require time to develop synergy within the squad.
  2. The 52-year-old also wants a mobile centre forward, a midfield controller, and more depth in the wide areas. Chelsea are in desperate need of a goalscorer and Enrique will definitely look to bring in the required players.
  3. Finally, Enrique wants to trim the size of the Chelsea squad. He likes to work with a particular set of players and will look to remove all the unnecessary players from the squad. And he wants total control of the outgoings and incomings within the club.

Will they meet the conditions set by Enrique?

While these conditions may seem reasonable, they could prove difficult for Chelsea to meet. The reason for the same will be the current financial climate and the club’s recent struggles on the pitch. However, if the Blues are serious about bringing in a top-class manager to lead them forward, they may have to be willing to make some concessions and invest in a long-term project.

Overall, the summer time will be crucial for Chelsea as they will look to find a new manager and begin the process of rebuilding their squad. They have a very talented young team and also posess the potential to attract top-class players. There is no doubt that the Blues can return to the top of English football. But they will need to make the right decisions both on and off the pitch if they are to achieve their goals.
