After the sacking of Graham Potter, Chelsea has appointed Frank Lampard as their caretaker manager. But, it’s pretty evident that Todd Boehly, the chelsea owner will again be in seek for a permanent manager for the Blues in the summer. And it won’t be a surprise if the one that he appoints is Luis Enrique. According to a recent report, Enrique has even told the club the formation he wants to use if he is appointed as the new manager. And it has reportedly impressed the Chelsea hierarchy.
The formation that Enrique has reportedly proposed is a 4-3-3. Pep Guardiola used this system at Barcelona, which has also been employed by some of the most successful teams in football history. The formation typically consists of a back four, three midfielders, and three forwards.
If Enrique were to take over at Chelsea and implement a 4-3-3 formation. It would represent a departure from the 3-5-2 formation that has been used by recent managers of Chelsea. This includes the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard. However, the 4-3-3 system would still allow for a solid defensive base. While it will also provide plenty of attacking options through the use of wingers and a lone striker.
Can Enrique’s tactics impress the Chelsea fans?
Reportedly, the Chelsea hierarchy has been impressed by the potential use of a 4-3-3 formation and they are keen to bring in a manager with a clear tactical plan.. The Blues have struggled for consistency in recent seasons. A well-drilled and organized team could be just what they need to return to the top of English football.
It is not yet clear if Enrique will take over at Chelsea, as the club is still considering a number of other candidates for the job. If Chelsea were to appoint him, Enrique has a clear vision for how he wants the team to play. So, that could be a key factor in his success at Stamford Bridge.
Finally, if he gets appointed as the manager of the Blues, it will be interesting to see if he impresses the Chelsea fans.
