Manchester City to compete with Manchester United for Declan Rice

Manchester City reportedly ready to rival Manchester United for the signing of West Ham United’s Declan Rice in the summer of 2022.

Despite interest from both Manchester clubs in the most recent transfer window. Rice remained on the books at the London Stadium, with his £80m price tag putting off potential suitors.

However, another intense battle for the England international’s signature is expected to commence next summer. A recent report claimed that Man United are putting the framework together for a potential move.

The Red Devils may have to fend off interest from City. Pep Guardiola is highly interested in signing Rice as a replacement for Fernandinho at the Etihad Stadium.

The veteran Brazilian extended his sint at Man City until 2022 earlier this year. But is not expected to stay beyond the end of this season. Although he could possibly remain at the club in a behind-the-scenes role.

Will Declan Rice make it to Manchester City or Man United?

Rice has just under three years left to run on his deal with West Ham. The 22-year-old has played every minute of Premier League football so far this season.

It’s claimed that captain Fernandinho is ‘unlikely’ to sign another extension when his contract expires at the end of the season. By which time he will be 37, and that Rice is ‘high on their list’ of potential replacements.

However, Rice reportedly isn’t the only midfielder City have got their eyes on.

According to the Daily Star, Borussia Dortmund’s teenage sensation Jude Bellingham is on their ‘wishlist.’

They are claiming that the 18-year-old is ‘fast emerging as City’s first-choice’ to replace Fernandinho. Though Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also showing their interest.

Rice and Manchester United both have been linking with a move for the talented Frenchman. Chelsea are also interesting on signing West Ham’s midfielder.
However, according to CalcioMercato, via InsideFutbol, Serie A giants Juventus have now entered the race, with the Old Lady apparently preparing to make a move in January to steal a march on any competition.
