Marca have reported that Premier League giants Manchester United have offered Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele a £480,000-a-week contract offer.
The French forward’s situation at the Spanish club is getting more and more complex day by day. Ousmane Dembele is out of contract in the summer and a new deal is still yet to be agreed upon. Barcelona have made it crystal clear that Dembele will not feature for the club again and needs to find a new club in the January transfer window if he intends not to sign a new contract.
Barcelona are still in massive debt and are only able to offer Dembele a pay-to-play contract, which is highly based on appearances. Hence they are finding it hard to reach an agreement on the new contract with the French forward.
While Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko is demanding a massive new contract for his client. Reports suggest that the agent is asking for a bonus of 15 million euros for himself and a 30 million euros sign-on bonus for Dembele.
Reports earlier this month suggests that new Barcelona manager Xavi will try his best to keep Dembele at the club. According to reports, Xavi sees Dembele as an essential part of his plans for the present and the future of the club. While Barcelona fans are fearful that they will lose yet another star player on a free transfer following Lionel Messi’s departure.
Official statement by Ousmane Dembélé
Despite Barcelona’s stance on the French forward’s contract situation. Dembele’s official statement states that he is still available if his manager needs him. The statement also states that the contract talks are still ongoing and the player is only focusing on the pitch.
Will Ousmane Dembele a good signing for Manchester United?
Despite the injury record of the French forward, there is no doubt about the abilities and attributes of Dembele. The French world cup winner would certainly add another dimension to the red devil’s front line.
Many members of the United front line look set to leave the club next summer. Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata are both out of contract in the summer and look set to depart the club. While Jesse Lingard is linked with a loan move to Newcastle United. French forward Anthony Martial has joined Spanish outfit Sevilla on loan. But there are still massive doubts over the forward’s future at Old Trafford beyond the season.
Signing Dembele on a free transfer is no brainier for any club involved. If the red devils can keep the forward fit he will certainly be one of the bargains of the year.
