The Premier League champions Manchester City demolished Arsenal 5-0 on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City lost their first match to Tottenham Hotspurs 0-1. But have made a strong comeback after defeating both the teams Norwich City and Arsenal 5-0 very comfortably. The win over Arsenal is their third consecutive 5-0 for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Ferran Torres was the pick of the players by scoring two goals. One in the 12th minute and the other in the 84th minute assisted by Riyad Mahirez. He also assisted a goal for Rodri in the 53rd minute. The Spanish winger was awarded Man of the Match too. But, Ilkay Gundogan started the proceeding in the seventh minute with a header into the net assisted by Gabriel Jesus. Gabriel Jesus also scored a goal in the 43rd minute by Jack Grealish.

There were three yellow cards and one red card given in Saturday’s match. For Manchester City Rodri got a yellow card in the 67th minute and the rest of the cards went to Arsenal. For the Gunners, Cedric Soares and Sead Kolasinac got a yellow card in the 24th and 28th minute respectively. Also, the Emirates captain Granit Xhaka got a red card in the 35th minute.

Manchester City have won their two games out of three and are firmly sitting in seventh position with six points and a goal difference of nine.

Arsenal have lost their third consecutive match in the 2021-22 Premier League season. This is their worst performance in the Premier League in the last two decades. Their defence is in big trouble as they are not performing well. All of the club’s defenders Keiran Tieney, Rob Holding, Cedric Soares, Calum Chambers and Sead Kolasinac are very poor in the defence this time and are making very silly mistakes.

If Mikel Arteta’s army continues like this then it would be very easy for the other teams to win against them which can result in a shocking relegation. The Gunners are really missing their one of the main defenders Ben White who was signed this summer for £50 million.

Mikel Arteta would now either be thinking to change his game plan or to bring some replacements in the squad to get back onto the winning track like earlier and to prevent his club from relegating.
