Manchester City are leading the race to sign 20-goal wonderkid. City look favourites to land a move for wonderkid Matija Popovic. The 17-year old is also on the list of AC Milan besides The Sky Blues. Journalist Fabrizio Romano also revealed on Wednesday that City are looking to lately hijack a deal for him. Moreover, the treble winners look to have made a huge move for hijacking the deal from Italian giants. As per Calciomercato, Guardiola’s side is now favorites to land the deal for Popovic.
It is said that AC Milan thought they had wrapped up a deal for the teenager as he prepares to leave Partizan on a free transfer in January. However, the English side now looks to enter the discussions and the Italians look to be falling out. Calciomercato also added that Cityzens are still in talk with Popovic and whether will Milan try to enter late in the deal.
The fans at the Etihad can be excited about the starlet. Though, it will be a while for them to see Popovic getting into the first team squad. Especially with a team like City, it has much of the talent on the bench waiting to make sn impact. Even after this, the Serbian can easily get into first team at such a tender age. He has scored 20 goals and five assists in just 24 appearances in 2022/23 season. He was supposed to link up with Partizan first team but owing to a dispute, he will leave for free in January. According to the Guardian who had them in his list of next generation said he has an excellent first touch and dribbling. Moreover, he is also supposed to be bestowed with pace.
