According to a recent report from Fichajes, Manchester City are targeting Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman is in the final year of his contract and Manchester City are set to make an offer for the forward in the January transfer window.

The French forward has been with Arsenal since 2017, as he joined the Gunners from Olympique Lyon for a club-record fee back then. While till date, Lacazette has registered 68 goals and set up a further 29 goals in his 179 appearances for Arsenal.

But the forward has seen limited game time over the past couple of months due to his poor form. While it is also reported that he has already decided to leave the club once his contract is up next summer. Following this, Arsenal are looking to sell the French forward in the January transfer window.

Arsenal would be demanding a fee of around €10m to let the striker walk away in the transfer window. While despite an underwhelming season last term, Lacazette scored a total of 13 goals. These goals were very important for Arsenal in securing the 8th place finish in the Premier League.

Again this season minutes have been hard to come by for the French forward. But in recent weeks Lacazette has been filling in at the number 10 role for Arsenal. Thus, playing just behind club-captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Despite playing a supporting role, Lacazette has been able to impress with his work rate.

Alongside Manchester City, West Ham United, Newcastle United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all are scouting the French forward. Following this, the Frenchman could be seeing many offers tabled for him in January.

Can Lacazette be the perfect striker signing for Manchester City?

Manchester City are currently without an out-and-out number 9 in their squad. Gabriel Jesus is the only recognizable number 9 in the squad but he is being played as a right-winger and has excelled in that position. While Ferran Torres has played as the number 9 at times for City. But for the most part of the season, Pep Guardiola has preferred to play with a false 9.

Alexandre Lacazette’s work rate, work ethic, and ability to link up play from midfield to attack may appeal to Pep Guardiola. While with the likelihood of him being available for just €10m or signing him on a free in the summer, looks like a no-risk signing for Pep’s Manchester City.
