According to reports, Manchester United are set to offer competition to Chelsea in the race to sign De Ligt from Juventus. The report also claims United wants to reunite him with Erik Ten Hag.
The Netherlands international recently handed in a transfer request to Juventus. This happened following a breakdown in contract talks on Thursday. Since then he was linked with a move to Chelsea. However, it is now reported that United are prepared to enter the scene. They are yet to make an approach. But the Red Devils are ready to take official steps to sign the player.

However, Juventus are reluctant to lose De Ligt. But it is suggested that an 80-90m fee could make a difference. Ten Hag got the best out of De Ligt at Ajax. It is also reported that De Ligt would be the second priority signing for United after Frenkie De Jong. If they manage to sign De Ligt, he would be expected to partner Raphael Varane at the heart of the club’s backline.
CHELSEA ARE LEADING THE RACE TO SIGN THE NETHERLANDS DEFENDER
The Blues are however leading the race to sign the Juventus defender. Thomas Tuchel is keen to work with him. He has also enlisted him as a priority signing after losing Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer to Real Madrid. Chelsea also have lost Andreas Christensen on a free transfer. The Blues are also financially equipped to sign him and can sort out deals in a quicker fashion. Hence, the Red Devils may have to act quickly to sign the defender.
One thing is for sure, De Ligt looks set to play in the Premier League. However, the interested clubs have to act quickly to beat each other in signing the defender. Whoever signs him will be getting an experienced center-back at the tender age of 22.
