Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag may give a chance to fringe players in the Europa League. The Red Devils are playing against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

Erik Ten Hag is not afraid to drop big names. Hence, there are chances that the fringe players will get opportunities to prove themselves.

MANCHESTER UNITED AGAINST REAL SOCIEDAD PRE-MATCH FULL REPORT

Manchester United kick-off their Europa League campaign on Thursday night against La Liga side Real Sociedad. The La Liga will give the Red Devils the sternest test in Group E. United come in the game after defeating Arsenal in their most recent outing. The win took their winning streak to four. Erik Ten Hag’s side have already put their disastrous start to the season behind them.

Real Sociedad have also performed well in the initial matches of the La Liga season. They have taken 7 points from a maximum of 12 at the start of La Liga. Hence, Manchester United will have to perform well to get the win against Sociedad. However, Erik Ten Hag might give the fringe players opportunities to prove themselves as regular starters in future games.

ERIK TEN HAG MIGHT GIVE CHANCES TO FRINGE PLAYERS

Erik Ten Hag is also expected to make changes in the line-up. He is likely going to rotate his line-up in the Europa League group stages. The rotation will provide game time for players that haven’t featured much this season. One of the players that are likely to play is Cristiano Ronaldo. Ten Hag has stated that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner still needs to get up to match fitness.

Hence, the Europa League would be a perfect opportunity to get game-time. Another one is Harry Maguire. The defender is not likely to start any game ahead of Lisandro Martinez and Varane. Hence, he might get some game time against Real Sociedad. The other Manchester United players that will be looking to get starts are Anthony Elanga, Martin Dubravka, and Luke Shaw.

However, Manchester United will still have a strong side against Real Sociedad. Although, there will be concerns as the fringe players have not got enough game time. Hence, the players are expected to be a little rough at the start of the match.
