Manchester United are planning to make a move for Inter Milan right back Denzel Dumfries. However, This move will only be successful if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves Old Trafford this summer. Wan-Bissaka has already been informed that he is a surplus to Erik Ten Hag‘s team this summer. Ten Hag has made it clear that Diogo Dalot is the first choice for the right-back spot of United ahead of the new season. Moreover, they could do with adding a few reinforcements for the right-back position this summer.

Denzel Dumfries arrived to Milan from PSV Eindhoven last summer. He has a four-year deal with Inter Milan, however, there are claims that the club are looking to offload him to reduce the high wage bill of Inter Milan. Inter Milan are looking for a fee of around €30m (£26m) to sell the player. Dumfries scored five goals and provided five goals for Milan in 33 appearances for the club. He was the club’s first choice for the right-back position at San Siro

Manchester United right back situation is a cause for concern

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are looking at Denzel Dumfries to fill in this role. However, the journalist has also admitted that no negotiations have taken place with Inter Milan as of yet. Writing in his CaughtOffside blog, Romano had this to say about Manchester United’s right-back situation:

“Manchester United will think of a right back only if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves. The club are taking the time in pre-season to assess him and other players. United are taking the time in pre-season to assess him and other players. My understanding is that Diogo Dalot is in the plans of Erik ten Hag, with the Portuguese youngster appreciated by the manager.”

Diogo Dalot has been pretty impressive in the pre-season so far. As things stand, Dalot is included in Ten Hag’s team. United were also in pursuit of Lens defender Jonathan Clauss. However, recent reports have suggested that the 29-year-old defender is inching closer to a move to Marseille.
