According to The Mirror, Manchester United are considering Swedish striker Alexander Isak as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement. The Portuguese legend turned 37 just recently and does not have a lot of time on the pitch. Moreover, United is having a disastrous season which has led to some doubting Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United.
Arsenal were interested in signing the 22-year-old forward. However, they were not willing to pay the £75 million release clause. Therefore, they failed to make any signings on the deadline day. The expensive release clause still remains and United might pay the release to secure the service of Isak.
However, whether to sign Isak or not depends upon the permanent appointment of a new manager at United. The new manager may or may not include Isak in his plans and the signing has to be made only with the consent of the new manager. Nevertheless, Isak is a very talented young striker and very few clubs in the world would say no to his arrival.
Isak has scored 7 goals and assisted 3 in the 29 appearances he has made this season in all competitions. Despite being aged 22, he has become an important player for Real Sociedad. He can certainly offer a lot to United but whether he can take the place of Cristiano Ronaldo still remains a doubt.
Why Manchester United should sign Alexander Isak?
Alexander Isak is a 22-year-old who has been playing regularly for Real Sociedad and also has played for Sweden quite a few times. The young striker has a lot of pace and beats defenders with ease to create more attacking chances. He can help United in playing a high-intensity game as the modern managers like to play now.
He takes 2 shots and completes 0.6 key passes per game while also completing 1.5 dribbles per game. However, sometimes he falls short in aerial duels and also in crisp and accurate passing. He is also not very well-known for his defensive contribution in the game. Therefore, United will have to develop and mold the youngster into a player that suits their system
Isak has shown exciting displays for both his club and country and a lot of clubs will be taking an interest in the striker. He gets the audience on their feet with his ability to beat defenders. He will surely be an exciting prospect at United and fans will also get behind the signing.
A move to a big club does look sensible for Isak as he has shown the world that he is capable of handling more. It will be tough for Manchester United to sign him due to the competition they will be facing. United have to make quick decisions as they will be torn whether to make a move for Isak or wait to see if Ronaldo stays. This can delay their decision and clubs like Arsenal who are interested in Isak will swoop away with the signing.
