Manchester United are growing in confidence that they will secure the signing of Christian Eriksen

Manchester United is having a relatively quiet transfer window so far. No incoming signings are being made even though a lot of departures are happening at the club. However, rumors are running rampant about the transfer activities of United. One such rumor is that the club is highly confident of acquiring the services of Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen spent some time training with ten Hag’s Ajax as he was building up his fitness. Moreover, he is a free agent and United have a position vacant in the position that Eriksen plays. It makes a lot of sense for United to sign the player.

Talksport’s Alex Crook has given an update on the pursuit of United for Eriksen. In his tweet he said : Confidence growing at #MUFC that Eriksen will sign. United’s transfer saga for the 2022/23 season

There are a plethora of players leaving the club. A lot of contracts have expired this season. Edinson Cavani, Lee Grant, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, and Paul Pogba are some of the players whose contracts have expired and who are leaving United. Dean Henderson is on a loan to Nottingham Forest. Donny van de Beek is returning to the club following his loan spell at Everton.

United have not had any major signings yet. ten Hag is going to be looking to change it. They are stepping up their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona. However, in case, the deal for De Jong doesn’t happen, they have a very solid option in Eriksen. Christian Eriksen would bring some much-needed experience to this young side.

Christian Eriksen is a set-piece specialist. Manchester United have scored just seven goals from set-pieces. Only Watford and Norwich, two relegated teams, have managed to score less. United have players with an immense aerial presence in the form of Harry Maguire and Christiano Ronaldo. Eriksen could become one of the key providers for Manchester United.

Eriksen is predominantly an attacking midfielder. However, Eriksen played a deeper for Brentford. He was set up in a midfield three with the Dane operating on the left-hand side of the trio. Manchester United has another attacking midfielder in the form of Bruno Fernandes on the team. But, Eriksen’s versatility means that both of them could be played in the seam team.
