Manchester United have done some serious business in the 2021/22 summer transfer market.
United’s first piece of business saw old boy Tom Heaton return to the club. The English goalkeeper left the United Academy permanently in 2012. He was re-signed from Aston Villa this summer on a free transfer. The 35-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the club.
This transfer window also saw long-term target Jadon Sancho sign for the Red Devils. The 21-year-old was top priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and United have finally managed to get the deal done. Sancho was signed for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund, and has agreed a contract till 2026 with the English club.
Another position United aimed to strengthen was at centre-back, and oh did they do just that. They secured the signature of four-time Champions League winning defender Raphael Varane. The 28-year-old signed a four-year contract with the option of an additional year for a fee rising to £43million.
United fans were given the ultimate gift when the club brought Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. The United legend sees a return to Manchester twelve years after leaving. He joined from Juventus in a deal worth around €23 million. The Portuguese signed a two-year deal with an option to extend a further year.
Daniel James is the only departure this summer. He joined Leeds for a substantial fee of around £30 million. Among ones to watch are James Garner, Brandon Williams and Facundo Pellistri, who have all left on loan.
