Manchester United is expected to sign five players before Deadline Day

During this month’s January transfer window, Manchester United has yet to make a signing. The January transfer window closes in just over a week, and Manchester United has yet to conduct any major business.

Despite the club’s desire to add a holding midfielder during this month’s transfer window. Manchester United has had a tranquil few weeks, with no new players joining the squad. With only three players leaving on loan for the remainder of the season.

While things can change quickly in the January transfer season especially on deadline day. United do not plan to add to Ralf Rangnick’s roster before the bell rings at 11 p.m. on Monday.

Nonetheless, as the final week of the window approaches, the club continues to be linked with a slew of names.

We’ve taken a close look at five players who are being tipped by bookmakers to join United. Before the transfer window closes on January 31.

5 players Manchester United could sign

Franck Kessie

Manchester United have been connected with AC Milan midfielder Kessie in recent months. As they look to add a new defensive-minded midfielder to their team.

The Ivory Coast international’s contract at the San Siro expires at the end of the season. Thus talk about his future is rampant.

Given his contractual status. United might try to sign him on a cheap deal before the transfer window shuts this month or for free in the summer.

On paper, Kessie appears to be the ideal choice for United’s need to bolster that particular section of the squad.

Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea centre-back Rudiger is another player whose contract is about to expire, and he has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent weeks.

Since Thomas Tuchel took over at Stamford Bridge a year ago, the defender’s career has been rejuvenated, and he has been a major figure in the Blues’ defence.

However, despite confirming that his ‘family feels great’ in London, he has yet to sign a new contract with the club, bolstering Chelsea’s chances of keeping him.

Manchester United may want to bolster their centre-back options in the summer, and signing Rudiger — if he hasn’t signed a new contract with Chelsea — would be appealing to many. However, the chances of him being signed in the final days of this month’s transfer window appear slim.

Declan Rice

Rice, who has gone from strength to strength in the last 18 months or so, is a clear target for United, who have already discussed the framework for putting together a deal to gain his signature.

Despite Rice’s brilliance, Manchester United are unlikely to make a move for him this month, with the deal considered as having a better chance of materialising in the summer.

Furthermore, the England international is worth around £100 million, so convincing him to come to Old Trafford will be difficult.

Frenkie de Jong

De Jong’s tenure at Barcelona has not gone according to plan. Despite being projected to grow into one of the best central midfielders in the world a few years ago.

Several big-name clubs in Europe, notably Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, have expressed interest in him. Indicating that he may still have a successful career at the highest level.

Although the Dutchman, who starred at Ajax in his younger days, will not turn 25 until May. He still has a lot to offer and would be an appealing signing.

He, like Kessie and Rice, might be a viable choice for Manchester United as they want to bolster their midfield options.

Ousmane Dembele

It wouldn’t be a transfer window if Manchester United wasn’t linked with a move for Barcelona and France winger Ousmane Dembele.

Despite bookmakers hyping him for a possible switch. The former Borussia Dortmund star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for several years. The chances of it happening this month’s window remains remote.

The winger, like Kessie, is out of contract in the summer and has refused to sign a new contract at the Nou Camp. Thus his club Barcelona is looking to offload him.

Despite this, he is unlikely to go to United due to the club’s broad selection of attacking options.
