Manchester United reportedly keeping an eye on Leeds United star Illan Meslier having previously linked with the Frenchman in the summer.

According to Media Foot, The Red Devils as well as Chelsea are keen to sign the star in 2023. It looks that the youngster will move from Elland Road in the future.

There was a previous report in the recent window that suggested that United were interested in the youngster. It was then suggested by Fabrizio Romano at that time that the player was viewed as Untouchable by the whites.

Despite the Frenchman still having three and half year deal left in his contract. There is a report suggesting the possibility of a departure next year. Croatian Dominik Livakovic is seen as the replacement for the Frenchman.

Manchester United to go for Meslier

A new goalkeeping addition to the squad seems to be a priority for Erik Ten Hag with current David De Gea facing some uncertainty about his future at Old Trafford. The Spaniard has six months left on his contract with United having the option to extend 12 months.

The Spaniard is ready to take a pay cut to remain at Old Trafford but there is uncertainty about his future. This is one of the reasons Meslier could be a great addition to the squad. He is well-reputed in English football.

Leeds signed him just for £ 5 million back in the summer of 2020 with £22k per week. He is now said to be worth around £ 50 million, according to Phil Hay of The Athletic.

It would be hard for United to land the signing of France U21 international from their rivals. But they could repeat the success after signing United legend Rio Ferdinand from Leeds in 2002.
