Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick wants to replace Cristiano Ronaldo with a new striker by the end of the season. According to reports, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been shortlisted as a probable replacement.

Manchester United will enter the transfer market for a new goal-scoring striker in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, it seems that they have found the Napoli striker as a player of interest.

A big cloud of uncertainty looms over their squad ahead of the beginning of the next season. Moreover, the Red Devils will have a new era under their next permanent manager.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford are in a poor run of form. Moreover, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, and Mason Greenwood have doubtful futures at Old Trafford for various reasons.

The Portuguese star is under contract with the Red Devils until the summer of 2023. However, it seems that his days at United are gradually getting limited. The Portuguese veteran has managed to score just once in his last 10 games.

Manchester United new signing

As per reports, the German tactician is convinced to have Osimhen as an option for the new summer signing. Meanwhile, United can pursue as they look to boost the squad by the start of the next season.

As per journalist Ciro Venerato, Rangnick wants to replace Ronaldo with Osimhen in this summer window.

He also claimed that Napoli is willing to sell Osimhen in the next transfer window. However, United has to cash in a heavy amount for the Nigerian international. The club values him at €100m.

Earlier Rangnick claimed it ‘obvious’ United needing a new striker ahead of the new season.

“This is obvious [United need a new striker]. Edison’s contract is running out in the summer, and the club needs the best possible centre forward. This is an obvious one. I think everyone is aware of that.”

Moreover, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the Red Devils will ‘100 percent’ sign a young striker in the summer transfer window.

Osimhen is young and his early experience at the top level has caught the attention of the United board.

He has registered 21 goals and three assists in 36 games since joining Napoli in 2020.

United may also try their luck of signing big names like Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski. However, that chance seems to be bleak for now.

In any case, Osimhen would most likely be ready to make a move to Old Trafford.
