Manchester United Make Offer To Eriksen

Manchester United have gone ahead and made an offer for Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen, according to David Ornstein.

The Red Devils had earlier sent scouts to have a look at him during Denmark’s Nations League game against Austria. It is safe to say that they were impressed by the ex-Tottenham man.

Eriksen has made a magical return to the sport. After a nearly fatal heart attack at the Euros, no one expected him to come back to football this early. He had to terminate his contract with Inter Milan. This was because Italian regulations prevented him from playing with an ICD in his heart.

It was newly-promoted Brentford who offered him a chance and signed him on a 6-month deal.

And what a signing it turned out to be. They were on a run of 10 losses in 12 games prior to his first start. Since his first start for the Bees, they went unbeaten in 8 of their 9 games.

These numbers point toward the fact that he is still a top player, with the ability to make a difference in games. Premier League fans will not be strangers to his exceptional quality. He had 52 goals and 66 assists under Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham. One of the finest playmakers in the league at that time, he formed deadly partnerships with Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

Manchester United will now try to bring him to Old Trafford. With the departure of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard, a midfielder who can create chances for the attackers will be a significant need for them. Bruno Fernandes experienced a drop in performance last season, and it would be ideal for him to have someone with whom creative duties can be shared.

Who Else Is In For Eriksen?

It is widely reported that former club Spurs are also in the mix. It would be a glorious homecoming for Eriksen if he chooses the Lillywhites. Spurs also have the added benefit of his former Inter manager Antonio Conte in charge, with whom he won the Serie A. The allure of the Champions League is another factor.

It will be interesting to see Eriksen’s decision. Whether he joins his old club or takes on a new challenge, the league will again be blessed to witness his quality.
