Manchester United planning to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the worst possible situation at Manchester United. According to Manchester Evening News, United have started planning on what is next after Solskjaer. While the Red Devils are heavily linked with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers and the former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. However, Solskjaer will have his place against Watford on 20th November.

The Red Devils have lost 3 of their last 4 Premier League matches including two consecutive defeats at home against Liverpool and Manchester City. United are currently 6th on the table behind Arsenal. The Gunners had probably their worst start to their season but still stand above United after 11 game weeks. United fans are not at all happy with their performance and are very vocal about the team’s problems. Despite Manchester United spending heavily in the transfer window, Ole is not able to get them running and win comfortably.

United have not performed up to the mark and looks very dull while playing. They do not seem to have a tactical plan and have made many individual mistakes. On paper, they have one of the best defences across Europe and are still struggling to keep clean sheets. Even though Manchester United are stuffed in attack, Ole is struggling to find the formula for them to score regularly. They are in urgent need to get back on track in order to succeed.

Why are Manchester United planning to replace Ole?

Manchester United have seen a lot of progress under Ole in previous seasons. They were the second-highest spenders in the league behind Arsenal. However, they have very little to show for it. Many thought United were title challengers but are currently 6th on the table and 9 points behind table-toppers, Chelsea. Many of the wins and draws this season are because of the brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo. With a squad full of talent, all they need is a manager with a proper system.

The Red Devils are not pressing effectively under Ole Solskjaer. Ronaldo offers very little defensively to the side. Their high defensive line has paid a visit to the net far more times this season. The summer signing of Jadon Sancho has failed to get into the spotlight at Old Trafford. Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire have gone from world-class to average again this season. It seems as if the players are not properly instructed in what they should be doing in some situations.

A manager’s job is to make it as easy as possible for the players to understand what he wants and depict that on the pitch. United’s recent convincing victory was against Spurs but that too because even Spurs were not in their best positions. Moreover, Ole has failed to win a single trophy as manager of Manchester United while reaching four semi-finals and one final.

A season to turnover for United

Manchester United must turn over their season as soon as possible. They think a managerial change is a must and are ready to go through the change. However, Rodgers prefers to join the club after the season and Zidane is waiting for the French national team to call. Until then, Manchester United can either be with Ole or opt for an interim manager.

This United squad is capable of putting in a tough fight for the Champions League but are struggling wherever they go. A new manager can refresh United just like Ole did after Mourinho’s departure but now they need is a manager who can win trophies for them.
