Here we have the Manchester United player ratings in a commanding victory against Crystal Palace. This was Ralf Rangnick’s first match after being appointed as the interim manager till the end of the season. Manchester United controlled the game and looked lively as compared to their performances in the past few months. United were able to hold on to a 1-0 lead against Palace.

The Red Devils were attacking from the start and came very close to scoring. Cristiano Ronaldo had the most number of chances but was unable to put the ball in the back of the net. United were able to win possession 12 times in the final third. That is the highest number United have achieved ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

As Rangnick mentioned that he would like to have more control, United certainly did that. United were successful in keeping their first clean sheet in 16 games at Old Trafford. In the 77th minute, Dalot played a ball towards Greenwood who turned his back towards the goal and set it up for Fred to chip the goalkeeper. Manchester United certainly controlled the game and they were dominant against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United are currently 6th in the Premier League table, one point behind Tottenham and two points above Arsenal. However, both the London clubs have one game in their hand and can go above United.

Manchester United Player Ratings vs Crystal Palace

David de Gea – 6/10

Had very little to do in the game and was unusually relaxed at the back. He must have felt a big change in United’s way of playing.

Diogo Dalot – 8/10

Provides a great attacking threat, unlike Wan-Bissaka. Moreover, he was very lively and put in some good crosses.

Victor Lindelof – 7/10

Lindelof made some good runs in attack with the ball. He was also more physical and calm to handle things at the back.

Harry Maguire – 7/10

He did not make any mistakes most importantly. However, he made a good clearance later on but could’ve done better to support the attack.

Alex Telles – 7/10

Came very close to scoring with his first shot. Moreover he was lively again on the left and with the set-pieces and scratched the crossbar with his freekick.

Scott McTominay – 6/10

He was again very aggressive and disciplined in the midfield. However, he could not make an impact at either end of the pitch.

Fred – 7/10

Fred did make some interceptions but made a few mistakes with the ball. However, redeemed himself with a sublime chip goal with his right foot.

Bruno Fernandes – 4/10

Bruno has to work to improve his temper in the game. Made some unnecessary decisions as he got frustrated at times.

Jadon Sancho – 6/10

Another lively performance by Jadon Sancho. Did well to press and threaten the Palace defense. However, he was unfortunate to be substituted first.

Marcus Rashford – 5/10

Was lively in the first half and did well to press the opposition. However, he failed to get regular shots on target and should have come off before Sancho.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 6/10

Had the most number of chances in the game but failed to convert. Could start scoring a lot once Rangnick settles in properly.

Substitutes

Mason Greenwood – 7/10

Returned to the pitch after a long time and did well to get the assist for Fred’s goal.

Anthony Elanga – 6/10

Got freshness into the attack and his first Premier League appearance this season.

Donny van de Beek – 6/10

Came on late but did not have a moment for himself.
