Manchester United prepare £60,000,000 swoop for Kalvin Phillips

Manchester United are edging closer to swooping up Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips. According to reports, Leeds could sell the midfielder next summer for around £60,000,000.

The Whites are drawing up a plan to prevent Phillips from moving to Old Trafford, according to reports.

While the Red Devils gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made signing a defensive midfielder a priority. This decision comes after they missed out on landing Declan Rice in the summer.

Manchester United view Kalvin Phillips as midfield solution

West Ham United priced out the Red Devils for a move for Declan Rice. Now, they have turned to his England midfield partner, Phillips.

Phillips is currently under contract at Elland Road until 2024. Reports suggest that the club are ready to tie him down to a bumper new deal to fend off external interest.

The 25-year-old is playing in the Premier League and has helped England reach the Euro 2020 final. The Yorkshire man is now one of the top midfielders.

Kalvin Phillips has spent his entire career at Elland Road. The lad is Leeds through and through. However, signing a new deal is a huge decision.

Manchester United completed a big-spending summer window. Nonetheless, a number of notions state that they failed to reinforce their midfield options. They acquired Tom Heaton, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho early on.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational return on deadline day rounded off the window. Such signings strengthened their goalkeeping, defensive and attacking options but not their midfield.

Solskjaer now looks to Phillips to solve his defensive midfield woes. Similar to West Ham, Leeds will attempt to price Phillips out of a transfer.
