United to make fresh bid worth €70m for the Porto striker
Manchester United have a fresh bid in the works which is worth €70m for Porto striker Evanlinson. The initial opening proposal was worth €60 million plus add-ons was rejected by Porto. This news comes form a report by Jornal de Noticias
The Red Devils are in hunt of a new striker
The Red Devils want to sign a new striker this summer. This led them to chase the signature of Darwin Nunez. However, Nunez chose Liverpool over United. So now, Evanlinson is the top target in strikers for Manchester United.
After the rejection of the initial bid, United are prepared to make a fresh bid of €70m plus variables.
They are confident that this could help them secure the striker. Porto’s valuation of Evanlinson is around €80m. This means United have a chance of signing him but, Jorge Mendes will be the key to this transfer.
Super agent Jorge Mendes has already overseen deals for the Portuguese club. Fabio Viera and Vitinha are players that were represented by the agent. Fabio Viera had a transfer to Arsenal whereas Vitinha had a transfer to PSG (pending). Now he can go about finalizing a move for Evanlinson.
Evanlinson- A budding player in need of grooming
Evanlinson joined Porto from Tombense in the summer of 2020. He had a good enough debut year with the club. The Brazilian had a tally of 10 goals in 29 outings with the club. But, he has stepped it up since then.
The 22-year-old netted 21 goals and five assists from 45 appearances. He has also been vital in the build-up of play. He excelled in hold-up play and won over 4 duels per game. Evanlinson mainly operated as a center-forward, but he was pretty flexible. Sometimes, he dropped down deeper into attacking positions to link up with his teammates.
Despite all of it, there’s still room for improvement for the player. His aerial ability needs a bit of polish. Up to some extent, so does his finishing. Evanlinson missed 15 big chances in the recent league. Something for Manchester United to be wary about.
He is far from being the complete striker. United although, are hoping to bank on his huge potential improvement under Ten Hag. Sebastian Haller at Ajax is an example of such a player. He progressed by leaps and Bounds under the Dutch manager. Evalinson is still unproven in the European leagues. But, Ten Hag has the ability and skill to turn his potential into a world-conquering player. His acquisition could mean long-term success for the Red Devils.
