Manchester United rule out signing Trippier

Manchester United have halted their pursuit of Kieran Trippier and put away their cheque book.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy with his transfer business. Raphael Varane will officially complete his £35,000,000 move from Real Madrid this week to become United’s second signing.

Varane will join Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford. The England winger, who cost an initial £73,000,000 from Borussia Dortmund, began training with his new team-mates recently. Solskjaer does not need anyone else and has ruled out making an offer for Trippier.

United pick Dalot over Trippier

Atletico Madrid believe that their right-back is worth around £34,000,000. However, Manchester United have now ended their interest in Trippier. Solskjaer believes that the returning Diogo Dalot is more then capable of challenging for a starting spot.

The Red Devils’ gaffer wants a right-back that offers him a different option than his current starter Wan-Bissaka. The former Crystal Palace man’s defensive ability is doubtlessly his greatest asset. He has been hailed by teammates and pundits alike.

Luke Shaw previously spoke :

He has been a solid eight-out-of-ten in every other game he’s played, never puts a foot wrong, puts his foot in the right position every time and, for me, he’s the best one-on-one defender in the world.

Dalot impressed with his form in pre-season. The Portuguese international scored a header in added time in the 4-0 friendly win over Everton. The 22-year-old spent last season with AC Milan with United originally prepared to loan him back to the San Siro.

However, they have changed their stance on it given his performances for Portugal at Euro 2020 and in pre-season. Solskjaer no longer wants to part ways with the young defender.

Placing faith in Dalot may turn out to be another example of astute player management by the Norwegain.

With Manchester United pulling out, Arsenal could jump at the opportunity. They have identified the 30-year-old as a replacement for Hector Bellerin.
