Amid links with Manchester United, Ruben Neves has hinted that he is ready to stay at the Molineux. The Portugal international has been a target for the Red Devils.

With Pogba’s departure seeming more likely, Manchester United had added Neves to the shortlist as a potential replacement.

Arsenal too were vying for the Portuguese. However, circumstances indicate that the Neves is happy at Wolves.

Neves has registered a respectable 20 goals and 10 assists from 176 appearances. His contract at Molineux runs until the summer of 2024.

Under new management

In an interview with Wolves TV, the Neves said: “Lage is a very good coach. I am really happy to work with him.

I spoke with a few friends when he signed for Wolves – that were players in Benfica and are good friends of mine – and they said a lot of good things about him.

Neves fits in quite well under the system of Wolves. Thus, he looks much more improved player now after settling himself making frequent first-team appearances. The Portugues has now become an important part of the club.

An Influential Figure

The 24-year-old has been one of the Wanderers’ most reliable men over the last couple of seasons in the Premier League and helped them effectively shape into top-half contenders.

Wolves cruised to a 2-1 win over Coventry City in a pre-season friendly this Sunday. Neves captained the side.

Post-match Neves was quoted saying: “It was a good test for us, I think we did it well, but we have two weeks to improve a lot of things before we go to the Premier League.

What we wished most was for the fans to come back, it makes a lot of difference for us so we are glad to see them back in the stadium.

Wolves kick off the 2021/22 campaign against Leicester in two weeks.
