Manchester United terminate interest in Neves

Manchester United have ceased pursuit of Ruben Neves of Wolverhampton Wanderers. They do not view Neves as a priority target and will not bid for him.

The Red Devils still want a central midfielder to complete their summer transfer activity. Neves was at the top of their shortlist. However, the Daily Mail reports that United have moved on from the Portuguese.

The midfielder was believed to be available for the right price. Manchester United have been strongly linked with him over the last couple of months.

Apart from United who are the other team looking to sign Neves?

Although he had a relatively quiet season last term, Neves has displayed no shortage of qualities in recent seasons, scoring 20 goals and assisting 10 in 176 appearances for Wolves. He still has 3 years left on his current contract.

Arsenal have also been pursuers of the 24-year-old.

It looks highly likely that Paul Pogba will be staying at Old Trafford this summer due to PSG acquiring Messi. This could result in Solskjaer abandoning the notion of signing another midfielder altogether.

Manchester United are keen to add a new midfielder to their ranks. This raises question marks regarding Matic’s future at the club. However, despite of interest from AS Roma, it is deemed to be untrue.

Last season, the former Chelsea man was a back-up option for Solskjaer, registering a collective 36 appearances. His starting place now looks to be uncertain. However, it is possible that he is still a part of United’s plans and be useful in their quest to launch a Premier League title charge.

Man United could hand a debut to Jadon Sancho in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Leeds United. Raphael Varane, on the other hand, faces a race against the clock to be registered in time for the contest.
