According to reports, Manchester United are considering whether to make a transfer approach for Porto star winger Luis Diaz.
Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are also scouting the Colombian winger. Manchester United are ready to compete with their Premier League rivals and have joined the race to land the winger.
Luis Diaz been in incredible form this term. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Porto this term. In this time he has recorded 13 goals and set up a further 2 goals for his teammates (stats via Transfermarkt). The winger also has a decent record for Colombia as he has recorded seven goals in 31 appearances for his country.
With so many European super-clubs interested in his services, Porto will find it very difficult to keep hold of their star winger. Following which the Portuguese club are ready to cash in on their star asset in the upcoming transfer windows. Diaz has an €80 million release clause in his contract and Porto expects his release clause to be met by any club who wants to land the winger in the January transfer window.
Is Luis Diaz the newest face for the United frontline?
Fichajes have reported that Manchester United are the latest European super-club to scout the 24-year-old as a transfer target in one of the next two transfer windows.
Manchester United frontline is undoubtedly in need of another rebuild. Many of the United frontline players are out of contract and many are set to be considering their future. The likes of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Edinson Cavani are out of contract next summer. There are no signs that they will sign a new deal at the club.
French forward Antony Martial is also reported to be considering his options after limited playtime this term. Cristiano Ronaldo at 36 is showing no signs of slowing down and is still scoring week in and week out. But there are still questions of how long Ronaldo can keep this sort of top-level performance up. So, Manchester United needs to act quickly to get some good backup for the frontline.
The winger has averaged 1.9 key passes, 2.4 dribbles per match in the Liga NOS this term. While he has maintained an 80.6% pass completion rate in the league this season. (stats via Whoscored)
With so many departures from the frontline imminent, signing Luis Diaz in one of the next two transfer windows would certainly add a new face to the front line and tick a lot of boxes for Manchester United.
